While Android’s popularity continues to grow at an exponential rate, it’s no secret that Google would love for their mobile OS to become even more lucrative for business users. Thus, Google plans on taking several steps to do just that for their successor to KitKat which should be released either during this year’s Google IO, or later in the fall, coinciding with their new Nexus smartphone.
“After rekindling Merlin’s ‘User of the month’ campaign in October, the winner of the November ‘User of the Month’ accolade is Tim Merridew, IT Systems Manager, at Cherwell.” As Russell Marsden, Marketing Manager declared “Tim, a trained Developer, has been selected for utilising Merlin’s Web Service Tool Set to create My Cherwell Online.”
Cherwell are a midlands based supplier of cleaning, hygiene and catering products and a leading member of the Nationwide Hygiene Group, the UK’s largest cleaning and hygiene supplies distribution group.
Tim Merridew explained that “My Cherwell Online, as its name suggests, is a customer-focussed online portal where customers can set up their account in a way which exactly matches how they go about purchasing consumables in their organisation. If required, order lists can also be defined which limit the products that an individual user is allowed to purchase and their expenditure can be controlled by setting a budget”. As Tim Merridew continued: “Merlin Business Software is written in such a way, that’s easy for an external developer, like myself, to understand quickly its underlying logic and workflow and be able to utilise this powerful resource, without the need for any specific or formal training.”
Having dealt with Merlin Business Software since 2004 we have recently upgraded to the latest version of Merlin. We are delighted we did as the new system has improved our efficiency immensely and has brought great benefits to our customers.
We have also taken a giant leap in technology by having our system hosted. Business Continuity is an extremely important factor to us and the hosting solution allows us to access our system anywhere there is internet access. This allows our depots to work independently, without the need for a connection to Head Office, enabling this continuity and giving our customers peace of mind.
Our concerns over system downtime during the upgrade were unfounded since the transition when we moved to the hosting centre was seamless across our multi depot organisation.
