EDI: Electronic Data Interchange Module

Merlin’s fully integrated EDI module allows you to seamlessly trade with your customers and suppliers – sending and receiving orders electronically, whilst also automatically triggering the relevant order acknowledgements and/or invoices.

Benefits of EDI

  • Reduced Delays – Delays are caused primarily by two factors. Paper documents may take days to transport from one location to another. In addition, manual processing delays are caused by the need to key, file, retrieve, and compare data.
  • Reduced Labour Costs – In non-EDI systems, manual processing is required for data keying, document storing and retrieving, sorting, matching, reconciling, envelope stuffing, stamping, signing, etc.
  • Improved Documentation – EDI permits user access to a vast amount of detailed transaction data.

EDI Sales

  • Sales Orders – Have customer orders directly streamed into SOP for immediate picking and shipping.
  • Sales Invoices – Having pre populated the customer’s Customer Maintenance with the relevant EDI details, on invoicing the customer the invoice will be packaged for distribution back into their system via EDI.

EDI Purchasing

  • Purchase Orders – Similarly, when creating Purchase Orders, these are dynamically sent via EDI – using the EDI details held on within Supplier Maintenance.
  • Purchase Invoices – When receiving EDI invoices back into your system, you can set tolerances to notify you of changes in prices, costs, dates etc. Which you are then able to accept or decline, if declined, the supplier invoice be put on hold.

Customer testimonials:

Butterfields
Our existing software package had served us well over a number of years but had become dated and was not going to meet the demands and requirements made on a modern system in today’s business environment. We looked at a number of different systems and companies and were given confidence in Merlin’s personnel at all levels being both accessible and able to handle data transfer, system implementation, on-going support and training issues. The Merlin system itself addressed key areas such as point of sale and stock control, providing a database operating platform which we felt would be an extremely important, user friendly tool to work with and enhance our business both today and in the future.
