The IG Group (formerly Innerglass) move to a bigger warehouse …

It`s certainly been a busy period for one of our newer customers, The IG Group (formerly Innerglass) who, because of a continued increase in demand and an ambitious expansion plan in the Janitorial and Catering Supplies Industry, had outgrown their offices and warehouse in Sunderland. So, the company have invested £2.5m in relocating to a modern Distribution Centre and Head Office in nearby Peterlee, County Durham. This new base provides over 150,000 sq ft of warehousing, from which they are dispatching almost 3,000 sales orders per week and also storing about 10,000 stock lines. In addition to the warehousing facilities, a new 1,100 sq ft Showroom has been opened, perhaps the largest of its type in the UK, which showcases products of 50 different manufacturers supplying this sector, such as Churchill, Steelite, Johnson Diversey and Swantex.

The IG Group recognised the many benefits that utilising Merlin`s rich functionality would bring to their operation and are currently undergoing testing with Merlin`s Hand Held Terminal Modules. This will enable goods to be receipted, stored, checked and dispatched directly from hand held devices operated by warehouse staff.

This is the first time they have been included in this hotly contested annual listing, which looks at the continued stability and growth of businesses within the North East.
