On Monday 3rd October 2011 the BBC reported that BT suffered a critical loss of broadband on a massive scale. “The company said those affected numbered into the hundreds of thousands – about 5% of its total customers”. This left affected businesses with on-site mail servers completely in the dark and losing business as a consequence.
However, had these effected businesses been customers of Merlin, then for around £10.00 per month, they would have been able to take advantage of our email fallback service, securely storing all emails until the ADSL Broadband service is restored. During the “blackout” period, the service is also accessible in real-time, allowing affected users to access valuable e-mails using alternative methods such as Smartphones or 3G enabled Notebooks and Tablets.
Caroline Foster of Dronco Abrasives commented –
“We suffered an extensive loss of broadband several months ago and as a result could not receive email. The email fallback facility enabled us to see and respond to our customer orders. Had we not taken this service, we would have lost a significant amount of orders and damaged our customer relationships.”
