According to recent reports the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt wants the NHS to be paperless by the year 2018, forecasted by PwC to save the NHS in the region of £4.4 billion pounds each year.
Mr. Hunt thinks it is crucial that any health information should be available to staff at the touch of a button and that a revolution in information technology is the next step in developing the future of the NHS.
The government also wishes to allow patients to use the web to report their experiences, rate NHS organisations and access their records creating a “no decision about me, without me” scenario.
