James Clay & Sons is a privately owned, specialist beer company, established in 1982 and based in West Yorkshire offering a national first class service to all sections of the drinks trade including a number of the Supermarket chains such as Tesco & Sainsbury’s.
James Clay & Sons import and distribute specialist beers from around the world including Duvel, Erdinger, Liefmans, Chimay, Timmermans, Schneider, Brooklyn, Menabrea and Vedettand are very proud of their wide selection.
James Clay & Sons are one of the country’s largest specialist beer importing companies supplying all sectors of the UK licensed trade from the largest supermarket to the smallest bar or shop. Importing directly from brewers in Belgium, Czech Republic, Holland, Germany, France, Austria and the United States. They can offer the kind of support needed in the 21st Century with publicity, special badged glassware, staff training and tasting notes plus full technical support.
For a number of years James Clay & Sons had been running the Sage system throughout the business. As time went on it became apparent that the business would out grow Sage and they would need to review their key software requirements. All stock information had to be available at the click of a button to deal with the high volume of enquiries on a daily basis. After numerous meetings, the directors of James Clay & Sons came to the conclusion that a new, modern, industry specific, fully integrated software system was the only way forward.
Late in 2005 James Clay & Sons began reviewing the software market. After looking at many different systems they discovered Merlin Business Software and it was apparent the standard features were much more advanced than their previous system.
Merlin would enable them to increase the amount of business the company could take through a normal working day. This would certainly increase their turnover and profitability as well as give them time to concentrate on delivering excellent customer service to their many customers.
Following a demonstration and encouraging visit to Merlin Business Software’s offices in Chesterfield, James Clay & Sons placed their order and went live with Merlin in 2006.
