Denka UK, a long-standing customer of Merlin, has recently extended their Merlin functionality with the introduction of a wireless Warehouse Management System (WMS) running on modern Android™ Hand Held Terminals (HHTs).
Denka distributes medical and dental supplies to dentists and GP practices all around the country and following a recommendation from another business, Denka chose to implement Merlin to help improve business efficiencies. They were seeing a high number of picking errors and the amount of paper they were having to archive was just not sustainable.
For Denka, the main focus of the project was to ensure they got the most out of the Hand Held Terminals (HHTs). Now Denka’s favourite modules are the HHTs and Warehouse Management System (WMS) applications.

HHTs are handheld scanners that are used every day to book in stock. When a customer places an order through their website the order is automatically fed into Merlin onto their handheld scanners.
Having the ability to put an automatic cut-off time into their daily workload gives them plenty of time to pick and pack orders before the couriers arrive.
Operationally, due to the implementation of the HHTs, DENKA has seen its picking errors reduce dramatically.
“Now everything comes through on the scanner and is very user-friendly and it shows a proof of delivery which is fantastic”
When we asked Katie if she would recommend Merlin she said:
“Go for it. It’s certainly helped DENKA and my team. It’s very user friendly. We have a generation of people in our team who don’t like technology, but they absolutely love it. 100% go for it”
